July Percussion Camp 2019

Percussion students will have a music camp July 22-25, 2019. This camp is imperative for the success of all members of the percussion studio.  Please plan on having your student present for the entirety of the camp.  If you have any questions, please email Mr. Bori (THS percussion director) at

AUDITIONS 2019-2020

All band members are required to audition for a spot in the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band (except percussion).  Students are required to perform all 12 major scales as specified in the music that is available at  They will also need to perform a chromatic scale at least 2 octaves or full range.  Students auditioning for the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will also need to perform a prepared etude which can be found in the West Texas A&M high school band camp audition music for 9th graders.  Auditions for woodwinds and brass will take place during the May 11-17 2019 on their home campus or via video submission.  Audition results will be posted on the website for students to peruse.

Percussion students are placed in the 7th period Band class the entire school year, which is taught by our percussion director Mr. Bori.  Ensemble placements will be decided from students’ region band audition outcome. This typically happens around mid-November and results are posted on the percussion room door. Should a student not be prepared enough to attend the region band audition, the directors will hear excerpts from their region band music to make a final decision on their performing band placement. All percussion students will travel and perform with the band that they are placed in. During the Spring Semester, percussion students will compete in percussion ensemble competitions and prepare for solo and ensemble.

Still have questions about this whole thing called band?

Please go to the link for new students at where you may find more detailed information about your student’s future in band.

We highly suggest you check out the band calendar for 2019-2020 available at

Here you will find all the future dates for the band activities, practices, and performances so you can start setting up your family calendar along with doctor visits etc.  We do expect students to be available to all practices and performances, and please remember that their placement/grade in the marching band and ensembles is heavily weighted by their attendance.

We look forward to having you in our hallways as a future Tiger and are looking forward to this four year adventure in front of you.  I know that we are excited to see your student and see their transition from a teenager into young adulthood.  Should you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me at
